Major Moscow's Strikes Eliminate Electricity Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have faced escalating attacks in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian aerial assaults have caused blackouts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Several individuals were hurt while local people in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and dealt with problems to water supplies, according to local authorities.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was killed in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, according to local officials.

Moscow has escalated attacks on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "real steps" from international partners to exert influence on Russia.

"The necessity is not superficial actions but firm measures - from the US, Europe and the G7 - in delivering protection systems and enforcing sanctions," was stated in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen projectiles targeted the country's power systems, describing such attacks as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were striving to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes hit energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in the capital.

Multiple people injured in the attacks on the city have been taken to hospital, per statements from municipal representatives.

Local officials said the metropolitan region endured significant strikes overnight. A minor died and three other people were wounded.

The attacks come after evenings of bombing campaigns in the region, portions of which are occupied by Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is on alert for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are harder to detect.

Authorities told reporters that Russia was purposely seeking to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already impacting energy systems.

Officials stated utility staff and government agencies were preparing for additional strikes.
