Two Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Officers detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
